-CONCEPT-
Packaging of a camera and products related to it usually done in a box with use of foam or thermocol for safety. Such a box is mostly not used , rather kept in the attic / storage space unattended. The idea was to break away from this common notion of making box packages.
For this , I applied a consumerist approach to make the package of the lens more Aesthetic and Visually attractive. The thought was to showcase all varieties of camera lenses in such a fashion , keeping in mind how the product will look at a Camera Store / Shop.
-IDEATION-
The idea was two make a joinery of two units , inspired from Peanut , I was able to simplify and narrow down to a group of forms shown in the first picture above.
The other photos are the variety of ideations that were constructed before narrowing down to the final form. The idea was to make an interlocking form that does not require any other extra mechanism to be joined or split other than force. The design is made to be ergonomic as the lower unit has a deep arc meant for the fore finger and thumb to hold the unit straight. With the the other hand the upper unit can be pulled while lens still stays intact in the cavity of the lower unit.
